Victoria Altstrup

Experimental studies of the contemporary are the mainstays of my work. I want to explore the ingenious and paradoxical of modern society.

Victoria Alstrup (b. 1994, Norway)

I am concerned with what factors people consider as essential for feeling free, how we are guided by temporary definitions related to the time we live in and how time affects what we see as true. I am interested in how art that aims to break with paradigms and conventions actually satisfies and to what extent they challenge our image of the world.

I work within several media which includes installation, sculpture, performance, text, audio and video. The physical materials I work with are mainly industrial materials and appropriated objects that I add to new narratives. My work often relates to the link between the physical and the illusory - the actual and the dreamlike. The installations reflect my interest in aesthetic transactions by internalizing the physical shape and design of things with technology.
